Obama Says Burma Elections Not Free and Fair

MUMBAI, India — President Barack Obama says the elections currently being held in Burma are “anything but free and fair,” The Associated Press reports. Speaking Sunday to a group of college students in Mumbai, Obama said that for too long the people of Burma have “been denied the right to determine their own destiny.” The president told the students that young people must “always speak out for human rights that are universal.”Published Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010
